‘Banglar Mati Banglar Jol’ on Shilpakala stage today

Theatre troupe Palakar will bring their play ‘Banglar Mati Banglar Jol’, produced based on Rabindranath Tagore’s ‘Chinnapatra’, on stage today at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital. The play is scripted by late playwright Syed Shamsul Haq and directed by Ataur Rahman.

Tagore is the protagonist of the play that covers the poet’s stay at Shilaidah, Patisar and Sahjadpur from 1889 to 1895 in the then East Bengal now Bangladesh.

The play upholds Tagore’s observations and feelings expressed to his nice Indira Devi. The play is also a description of the scenic beauty of the countryside through Tagore’s perception, and articulates how the poet was moved by the openness of the rural people and the mystic songs of Lalon.

Stage lights of the production are designed by Nasirul Haque Khokon while Lucy Tripti Gomes has designed costumes for the play. Aniket Paul is the set designer and choreographer of the play.

The cast of the play includes Shamim Sagor, Shahana Bappi, Aminur Rahman Mukul, Shahrier Khan, Nahida Sharmin, Mahmud Nuri Shah and many others.

Tickets will be available in front of the venue before the show. For advance tickets, interested audience can call to 01625592657.
