The Dhaka Cyber Crimes Tribunal yesterday rejected the bail plea of the former officer-in-charge (OC) of Sonagazi police station, Moazzem Hossain, and sent him to jail in connection with a case filed for recording Nusrat Jahan Rafi’s statement on video and leaking it online.

Judge Mohammad As-Shams Jaglul Hossain passed the order in a jam-packed courtroom around 2.30 pm. He set June 30 as the date for framing charges in the case.

Moazzem, who was arrested from Dhaka’s Shabagh area yesterday, was brought to the court lockup around 12.30 pm before being produced in court around 2.25 pm.

During yesterday’s hearing, Supreme Court lawyer barrister Sayeedul Haque Sumon, who is also the petitioner in the case, told the tribunal that Moazzem did not show respect for the law v
