Workshop on burn and hand surgery held

The three-day workshop on burn and hand surgery was concluded at the Mansur Gallery of Dhaka Community Medical College on Thursday, says a press release. Dr AK Lutful Kabir, associate professor, Department of Pharmacy of Dhaka University, was the chief guest in this programme. Dr Kabir said, “The quality of our medical service will be enriched if more and more quality improving workshops will be held like this”.

The three-day workshop was organised jointly by Dhaka Community Medical College and Interplast, Australia. Three volunteers from the Interplast provided training as resource persons in the workshop. Total 28 physiotherapist and occupational therapists from Dhaka Community Hospital, Dhaka Medical College, and ASF (Acid Survivors Foundation), participated in the workshop.  Prof Quazi Quamruzzaman, chairman of Dhaka Community Hospital Trust (DCHT), inaugurated the workshop on Wednesday. In his speech he said DCHT has always been taking part in the process of action, implementation, assistance and patronising such training programme for the improvement medical services in the country.

JU, a2i ink MoU

Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ‘Access to Information-a2i’ with a view to develop quality human resources on the basis of research, innovation, and technology.

Under the MoU, the university authorities will formulate new curricular to impart training to the students for developing their information and communication knowledge so that they could prepare themselves for modern technology based job sectors.

JU treasurer Prof Sheikh Md Monzurul Huq and Project director Md Mostafizur Rahman signed the agreement on behalf of the university and a2i respectively at the seminar hall of Wazed Miah Science Research Centre (WMSRC) on the campus at 3.30 pm. Conducted by the Director of WMSRC Prof AA Mamun, Pro-VC (education) Prof Md Nurul Alam, dean of mathematical and physical sciences Prof Ajit Kumar Majumder, dean of biological sciences Prof Abdul Jabber Hawlader, chairman of physics department Prof Md Abdul Mannan Chowdhury were present among others.

Science fair held at Milestone College

Milestone College Science Club (MCSC) organised a three-day science fair on its college premises at Diabari in the capital. Additional deputy police commissioner (DMP –Uttara zone) Md Kamruzzaman Sardar inaugurated the fair on Tuesday, says a press release. Students of class IX, X XI (Bangla and English version) participated in the fair and 110 projects were displayed.  Principal of Milestone College Prof Md Sahidul Islam, Principal of the administrative campus Colonel M Kamaluddin Bhuiyan (retd) and Director Md Masud Alam were present as honourable guests at the inaugurated ceremony. A large number of students, heads of all faculties, teachers, college officials - employees were present in the ceremony. After the inaugural ceremony, guests visited the fair and talked to young scientists. During the time, the students showed their science projects and answered different questions.
