Solo art show ‘Red vs. Green’ underway at EMK Center

A weeklong solo exhibition of Sadek Ahmed titled ‘Red vs. Green’ is underway at the EMK Center in Dhanmondi of the capital.

Eminent artist Monirul Islam inaugurated the exhibition as chief guest on Saturday evening, while Abul Barq Alvi, Professor, Printmaking Department, Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka attended the opening ceremony as a special guest.

This exhibition tells the tales of the rural regions of Bangladesh and the old town of Dhaka city. The exhibition comprises of 30 artworks, composed in water colour. The pieces, ranging in hues of red and green, depict scenarios of the regions through the artist’s eyes. Each and every detail is captured and expressed in a way that leaves the audience filled with nostalgia and abstract emotions.

Sadek Ahmed is a freelance artist. Watercolour painting and printmaking are his passion. He completed BFA (Hons) and MFA Degree from Dept. of Printmaking, Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka. As an artist, he did one solo exhibition on printmaking and more than 35 group exhibitions and attended more than 15 Art camps, workshops at home and abroad. Also, he got two Media Best and one Honorable awards for Watercolor, Printmaking and Painting.

The exhibition remains open to all from 9:30am to 8pm, until September 5. EMK Center remains closed on Fridays and on public holidays.
