Curtain falls on ‘Ganga Jamuna Cultural Festival 2019’ today

The curtain will fall on the ‘Ganga Jamuna Cultural Festival 2019’ today. Three plays will be staged on the concluding day of the 10-day event at three separate venues of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha, while one play will be staged at the Mahila Samiti in the capital’s Baily Road area.

The closing ceremony of the eighth edition of the festival will be held at the National Theatre Hall of BSA today at 6pm, where honorary president of Bangladesh Centre of International Theatre Institute (ITI) Ramendu Majumdar will be present as chief guest. Presided over by convener of festival organising committee Golam Kuddus, cultural personalities Keramat Moula, Deb Prasad Debnath, Jhuna Chowdhury, Ahmed Gias and dance artiste Minu Haque will be present as special guests.

Arranged by Ganga-Jamuna Sangskritik Utsab Parshad, in association with Cultural Ministry of Bangladesh, India-Bangladesh Foundation and BSA, the festival features as many as 36 stage productions from Bangladesh and four productions from India.

Today, on the closing day, theatre troupe Aranyak Natyadal will stage its acclaimed production ‘Mayur Singhasan’ at the National Theatre Hall, while Somoy Natyadal will stage its 26th production ‘Bhager Manush’ at the Experimental Theatre Hall and Theatre 52 will stage its first production titled ‘Nonon Purer Melay Ekjon Komola Sundori O Ekti Bagh Ase’ at the Studio Theatre Hall of BSA.

On the other hand, Theatron Dhaka will stage its play ‘Setzuaner Sukonya’ at the Mahila Samiti.
