Reza Arif awarded ‘Tanusree Padak 2019’

Young theatre activist Reza Arif has been awarded with the ‘Tanusree Padak 2019’ (Tanusree Award) for his outstanding contribution in the field of theatre.

This year’s award was handed over to the recipient on the opening day of three-day theatre festival, which has been arranged to celebrate the 27th founding anniversary of prominent theatre troupe Natyadhara. Began on Thursday, the festival is being held at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital

 ‘Tanusree Padak’ is conferred annually by Natyadhara on a young theatre activist in recognition of his or her outstanding performance in theatre in memory of young theatre activist Tanushree Gayen who died prematurely in 1999.  

Presided over by Natyadhara president Masud Parvez Miju, noted theatre personality Ramendu Majumdar, president of Bangladesh Shishu Academy Lucky Inam, secretary general of Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation Kamal Bayzid and Anjan’s chief executive officer Shaheen Ahmed attended the award ceremony as guests.

After the award ceremony, Samatat Natyadal staged their pala production ‘Ujan Bhaital Koinya’.

Yesterday, on the second day, Kolkata-based theatre troupe Ifta staged two shows of their play ‘Dear Papa’ at the same venue.

The three-day festival will conclude today with staging of Natyadhara’s 25th production ‘Charlie’. Written and directed by Litu Shakhaoath, the play’s central character, Charlie, revolves around the reality of the society and philosophy of human life. He spreads the message of living with smile in every struggle of life. In the play, Charlie is a hard reality.
