‘Collective efforts needed
to eliminate extremism’

Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury yesterday stressed the need for collective efforts at International and regional levels aiming to eliminate ‘extremism’ for building a peaceful world as the extremism is an enemy of civilization and humanity. “Peaceful world could be built by eliminating extremism through working together at international and regional level as extremism is a global problem”, said the Speaker while inaugurating the “Anti-Extremism National Conference-2019” in city’s International Convention Center, Bashundara.

Extremism and terrorism should be rooted out from the grassroot levels, Dr Sharmin told the conference jointly organised by Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Unit, Stop Violence Coalition Secretariat and a non-government organisation Rupantar. All would have to come forward for eliminating extremism through forging social movement and raising mass awareness, said the Speaker. “Moral values will be developed which would begin from family to academic level,” she added.
