The launching ceremony of the upcoming film ‘Adventure of Sundarbans’ was held at the Biswa Shahitto Kendra in the capital on Monday. Attending the ceremony, Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal introduced the cast and crew of the film which is going to be made based on his children’s novel ‘Ratul-er Raat, Ratul-er Din’.

The film, a joint production of Bongobd with government funding, will be directed by Abu Raihan Jewel while Zakaria Shoukhin has written its script.

Pairing up together once again, popular actors Siam Ahmed and Pori Moni are going to play lead roles in the film. Among others, Shahidul Alam Sachchu, Azad Abul Kalam, Munira Mithu, Kochi Khandakar, Ashish Khandakar will play different roles in ‘Adventure of Sundarbans’. Moreover, a group of child artistes—who have selected through a workshop conducted by Ashish Khandaker—will also act in the film.

Sumon Sarkar is working as the cinematographer, while young music composer Alvee is the music director for the film.

The shooting of ‘Adventure of Sundarbans’ is scheduled to start from March 13 this year, the director of the film informed at the Monday’s event.

Dr Muhammad Zafar Iqbal has written a song for the first time for this film. He said in his speech, “Other than ‘Dipu Number Two’, I never give permission to any director for making a film based on my novels. There is a reason behind it. I think the novel has the power of imagination. For example, when someone reads a novel, he or she imagines the characters in the novel as his or her own. But, when the characters are presented in the cinemas, the viewers see them through the eyes of the directors. Because a director selects particular persons to play the characters.”

Actress Pori Moni said about her involvement in the film, “This is my first journey to Sundarbans. Actually, it is not a journey; rather, I would like to consider it as an adventure. In this film, I am going to play a character named Tisha. I request my director for grooming me appropriately for the role of Tisha, because I really want to be Tisha.”

Siam said on his part, “I am very much excited with this opportunity that for the first time, I am going to act in a film based on the novel written by Zafar Iqbal sir. I hope I will not disappoint him. I will try to play my role properly to the best of my ability.”
