Bangladesh Mahila Samiti in the capital’s Baily Road area.

The play will be brought to the stage as part of the ongoing ‘Jatiya Natya Utsab 2020’ (National Theatre Festival 2020) organised by Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation.  

‘Chitrangada’ is the 11th production of Swapnadal, written by Nobel Laureate Poet Rabindranath Tagore and directed by Zahid Repon.

Swapnadal has prepared the production ‘Chitrangada’ with the poetic drama version. It may be mentioned that dance drama form of ‘Chitrangada’ is well known because it has been performed by a good number of organisations. On the other side, the poetic drama version of ‘Chitrangada’ has not been staged regularly in modern stage before Swapnadal.

On the other hand, as part of the National Theatre Festival 2020, two more plays ‘Droho’ by Bogura Theatre and ’42-er Biplob’ by Udichi will be staged at National Theatre Hall and Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy respectively.

All the plays will be staged at 7pm.
