Five relatives of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia met her at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on Friday afternoon.

Her younger brother Shamim Eskander, his wife Kaniz Fatema, son Avik Eskander, nephews Shafin Eskander and Shahriar Haque entered the Cabin Block of BSMMU around 3 pm but they did not speak to reporters during the visit.

Khaleda Zia was admitted to BSMMU after she fell sick on April 1 last year. She has been in jail since February 8, 2018, after being convicted in two corruption cases.

On February 11, five relatives, including her sister Selima, met Khaleda at the hospital. Later, they demanded her release for better treatment abroad.

The court is scheduled to hear Khaleda’s bail plea on Sunday.
