Chhatra League helps Daudkandi farmers harvest paddy

Outbreak of corona virus has led to the crisis of rice harvesting workers throughout the country. During this crisis, helpless farmer Mostafa Miah of  Sadar North No. 1 Union of Daudkandi Upazila and Jamal Miah of Bargowali village of Sundalpur Model Union had no  luck on finding labours to have their paddy harvested. However, BCL Vice-President Arman Bashir and Daudkandi upazila BCL  President Tariqul Islam Nayan and General Secretary Nasir Uddin got informed about their situation and on Wednesday and Thursday they went to those farmers and helped them on rice harvesting.

Farmer Mostafa Mia says, "Workers usually charge 500-600 Taka for one day labour to harvest paddy. But in present situation, there are no rice harvesting workers around even though farmers are ready to pay 800-900 Taka." He added  "So we were  really worried about harvesting paddy."
But during our crisis, when we called the hot line number of ' Hello Chhatra League' and informe them about our problem, Chhatra League came and cut our paddy and brought them home for free. And we really are grateful to Chhatra League.

District BCL vice-president Arman Bashir said,'This is our small effort under the direction of Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Chhatra League has emphasized on harvesting paddy with the thought that the country will survive if  farmers survive. And natural disasters or  pandemics are really just a test for humanity. In this situation everyone has to come forward from their position. As under the direction of Comilla District Chhatra League President  Abu Kawsar Anik Bhai, the Paddy harvesting program is running in each unit of Chhatra League  to help  farmers.
