Dhaka Theatre, one of the popular theatre organisations in the country, is going to stage its much-acclaimed play ‘Dhaboman’ today at 7pm at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), Segun Bagicha in Capital as a part of the ten-day festival titled ‘Ganga-Jamuna Theatre and Cultural Festival’ (Ganga-Jamuna Natya O Sangskritik Ustab 2016).

The sixth edition of ten-day theatre festival titled ‘Ganga-Jamuna Theatre and Cultural Festival’ has begun yesterday at the premises of BSA. Prominent theatre personality Ali Zaker inaugurated the festival yesterday evening while Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor was present as chief guest.

Written by Selim Al Deen, the play ‘Dhaboman’ is directed by Shimul Yousuf. Esha Yousuf plays the protagonist, Sohrab, a buffalo calf, which grows up to be the most powerful beast as well as a cherished asset for its master Nahbat. Music and set design are done by Shimul Yousuf. On the other hand, Theatre Troupe Somoy will bring their play ‘Jojati’ at the Experimental Theatre Hall of BSA and Natyachakra will stage their play ‘Mritykhudha’ at the Studio Theatre Hall at the same time.

Before staging the plays, street play by Chandrakala, recitation by Muktadhara Sangskritik Charcha Kendra and Kotha Abrity Charcha Kendra, music performance by Wrishijo and Anondon, and dance performances by  Notoraj and Banhisikha will be held on the open yard of BSA.
