Mash admits his decision to bat first was wrong

Rangpur Riders captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said that the decision he takes to bat first against Rajshahi King on Mirpur wicket was wrong what they understood out and out later stage of the match.

“It would be better for us if we could take fielding instead of batting. I held talks with the coach in this regard,” said Mashrafe Bin Mortaza.

“He told me to take fielding but I thought he suggests me to take batting.

Actually there was an error in our communication,” Mashrafe told reporters at the post-match briefing.

Along with that, Mashrafe also said that their total has not healthy if they could add to 15-20 more runs, it would then be better for them.

“We would have returned  into the match if we could grab a catch in the beginning. Mominul will seek to make big something in the initial six overs. It would be better if we could send him back.  Moreover, he had 15-20 more runs short of the total,” he thought.

“We needed times to make our adjustment though local players play here at regular basis. But we were at good stead at one a position, where 30 were scored in just three overs. But two wickets in two balls sent us back,” he said.

The captain said that it is tough for them to stage a comeback after the losses in back-to-back matches.

“For them it is tough to come back in the fray. We have to play against biggest teams ahead. It’s tough to say what will happen in the next in T20. But getting a momentum would be better for us,” he said, adding: “We’ve no matches in the next four-five days. In such times, it would be better to play quick games. Now we’ve to wait in patience.”

Rajshahi Kings batsman Mominul Haque on the other hand said that they got the advantage from the both occasions from the Mirpur wicket.

“Bowling helps on Mirpur wicket at the initial five-six overs. We got that thing. In second half, the pitch became flat while I was batting. I think so,” Mominul Haque said. “Simmons was batting well. Actually our bowlers took the advantage properly from the wickets,” Mominul told in his reaction.

It is Mominul, who struck first fifty as a local players after being hit 11 fifties by foreign players. When asked about his process to make fifty,  Mominul, dubbed Mr dependable,  said “It depends on player’s himself what he will do. They should make their habituation for it. Actually I’m trying to do this thing.”
