‘Nat’l Instrumental Music Fest’ underway at BSA

The 10-day ‘National Instrumental Music Festival’ is underway at the Nandan Mancha of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital.

Aiming to uphold the glorious history of Bengali’s domestic musical instruments, BSA has organised a festival of its kind for the first time.

Presided over by BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzamana Noor inaugurated the festival  as chief guest on Monday, while eminent guitar player Enamul Kabir was present as special guest. Festival coordinator Komal Khalid, who is also a teacher of the Government Music College, delivered the welcome speech at the event.

After the inauguration, Md Moniruzzaman presented orchestra, Enamul Kabir played Hawaiian guitar and BMF troupe presented orchestra.

Besides, orchestra by district performance (Chittagong, Rangpur, Narayanganj) was held on the opening day.

Beginning on January 1, the festival will run till January 10 at the same venue. Instrument players from four to seven districts are scheduled to perform every day from 4 pm to 9 pm in the festival.

To note, a seminar titled ‘Bangla and Musical Instrument of Bangalee’ will be held on the sixth day of the festival on January 6.
