1st National Instrumental Music Festival ends

The curtain fell on the 10-day National Instrumental Music Festival on Thursday at the Nandan Mancha of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA).

Presided over by BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky, the closing ceremony was attended by noted theatre personality Ramendu Majumder and BSA Secretary Jahangir Hossain Chowdhury.

The 10-day festival came to an end with the instrumental recital of the artistes of Rangamati, Lalmonirhat, Barisal, Cox’s Bazar, Sylhet and Rajshahi districts.

Besides, Dr Ruposhi Momtaz played Violin, Murtaza Kabir Murad played flute and BMF troupe performed orchestra ‘Bayanno Theke Pochattor’. An orchestra presentation by Bangladesh Ansar-VDP Bank troupe was also held at the closing day of the festival.

BSA organised the festival for the first time aiming to make new generations interested in the domestic musical instruments, including protecting musical instruments and instrumental music and quality practices.

Earlier, on January 1, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzamana Noor inaugurated the festival while Director General of BSA Liaquat Ali Lucky presided over the opening ceremony.

As part of the programme, a seminar titled 'Bangla and Musical Instruments of Bangalee' was arranged on the 6th day (January 6) of the festival.
