Attack on Zafar Iqbal: Foyzur’s brother remanded

 A court here on Tuesday granted an eight-day remand for Enamul, brother of Foyzur Rahman who attacked eminent writer Prof Muhammed Zafar Iqbal on March 3.

Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Haridas Kumar passed the order when Shafiqur Rahman, investigation officer of a case filed over the incident, produced him before the court seeking a 10-day remand to interrogate him.

Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit arrested Enamul on March 8 from Gazipur along with a cellphone and tab used by Foyzur.

Earlier on March 11, the parents and an uncle of Foyzur Rahman were remanded for different terms in the case while on March 8, Foyzur was also put on a 10-day remand.

Prof Zafar Iqbal came under attack at the Mukta Mancha of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) during a two-day celebration programme, 'Robofight,' of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) department on March 3.

Police arrested Foyzur, 25, from the spot.UNB.
