Shilpakala celebrates Rebel Poet’s 119th birth anniv

Celebrating the Rebel Poet (Bidrohi Kobi) Kazi Nazrul Islam’s 119th birth anniversary, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) organised a cultural programme featuring musical soirée and recitation yesterday at the National Music and Dance Department of the academy.

A discussion session was also held on the life and work of the Rebel Poet. Presided over by BSA secretary Jahangir Hossain Chowdhury, Professor of JnU Bangla Department Hosne Ara Joly attended as a main discussant at the event.

After discussion, singer Chhanda Chakraborty rendered ‘Nishi Bhor Holo Jagiya’, while Rowshan Ara Soma rendered ‘Kar Nikunje Raat Kataye Asle’, Shamima Parvin Shimu rendered ‘Bol Ranga Hongsho’, Sumon Chowdhury rendered ‘Rumjhum Rumjhum Ke Bajay’, Zannatul Ferdous Lucky rendered ‘Noyon Vora Jolgo Tomar’ and Tawhider-e Murshid Amar Muhammad-er Naam’.

Nahian Durdana Suchi presented the song ‘Rumjhum Rumjhum Asilo-re Prio’, Mahmudul Hasan presented ‘Piya Gechhe Kobe Pordeshe’ and Shahid Kabir Polash rendered ‘Shaon Asilo Phire’.

Besides, Mizanur Rahman Sajal recited poem from ‘Samyabadi’, while Laila Afroz recited ‘Dodul Dol’, Rafiqul Islam recited ‘Agamoni’, Ashraful Islam from ‘Sindhu Theke’ and Shirin Islam recited ‘Abhisar’.

Recitation artist Mashkur A Sattar Kollol hosted the cultural event.

Moreover, BSA workers, employees and artistes placed floral wrath to the graveyard of the Rebel Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam on the early morning yesterday (May 25) to pay tribute on his 119th birth anniversary.
