Two new albums of Tagore songs titled ‘Tomay Amay Mile’ rendered by Shimu Dey and ‘Alok Mala Sajhe’ rendered by Avaya Dutta were released at the auditorium of Chhyanaut in the capital on Tuesday. The covers of the albums were unveiled by eminent writer-journalist Anisul Haq and pro-vice chancellor of East West University Professor Dr Fakrul Alam.

Presented by Bengal Foundation, each of the albums contains eight notable Tagore songs.

After the launching of the albums, the musical performance started with a duet song titled ‘Anandodhara Bahichhe Bhubone’ by the artistes of two albums.

Then, Avaya Dutta, without a break, sang three songs—‘Ki Sur Bajhe’, ‘Amar Moner Koner Baire’ and ‘Kotha Hote Bajhe Prembedona re’.

After the performance of Avaya Dutta, Shimu Dey took the stage and performed the songs ‘Ami Tomay Jato’, ‘Keno Amay Pagol Kore Jas’ and ‘Tabo Premsudharse’. Then again, Avaya Dutta rendered three more songs ‘Durdeshi Sei Rakhal Chhele’, Jakhon Esechhilo Andhokare’ and ‘Bajaore Mohon Bashi’. Shimu Dey rendered the songs ‘Tabo Prem Sudha Rose’, ‘Ke Bosile Aji’ and ‘Majhe Majhe Tabo Dekha Pai’.

The event concluded with a duet song ‘Dharonir Ganoner Miloner Chhande’ by the singers.

The singers were accompanied by Iftekhar Alam Prodhan on tabla, Asit Biswash on esraj and Ruptanu Rupu on keyboard during the entire performance.

Bengal Foundation director general Luva Nahid Choudhury moderated the whole programme.
