A ten-day art exhibition titled ‘The Oriental’, the 8th Oriental Painting Exhibition, is underway at the Abinta Gallery of Fine Arts in the capital’s Badda area.

Abinta Gallery of Fine Arts, along with Oriental Painting Study Group (OPSG), has organised the exhibition and awarded three artists for their best artworks selected by a jury board. Artist Azmir Hossain awarded with Abinta Grand Award, while Munmun Nahar and Samina Zaman got Abinta Excellence Award at the inaugural ceremony of the exhibition on Saturday.

Former foreign secretary and president of Bangladesh Enterprise Institute Farooq Sobhan, art critic Borhanuddin Khan Jahangir, sculptor Hamiduzzaman Khan, artist Rokeya Sultana and country director of Marks & Spencer in Bangladesh Shwapna Bhowmick attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition and handed over the crest, award money and certificate to the winners.

The ten-day exhibition is showcasing beautiful artworks based on Oriental Arts in a number of total 60 artworks.

The artworks were collected from all around the nation, which includes the artworks of students of fine art, self-taught artists and regular visual artists. From the total number of selected 60 artworks, top three artists have been awarded.  

Founded in 2009, OPSG has been promoting Oriental Art through regularly organizing exhibitions, workshops and seminars. This time, OPSG joining hands with Abinta Gallery of Fine Arts, is holding the 8th Oriental Painting Exhibition through the open call ‘The Oriental’ where artists from all over Bangladesh earnestly responded.

The exhibition remains open to all every day from 10am to 8:30pm (except Monday) until August 13.
