Actress Nawshaba denied bail

Actress Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed, who was remanded in a case filed under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act, was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Monday afternoon as she fell sick.

DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman told reporters that Nawshaba was taken to the medicine ward in DMCH.

Doctors said that she was suffering from dysentery and sent her to a diagnostics centre for a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan.

Nawshaba was detained from Uttara on August 4 for allegedly spreading rumours on social media about the student protests for safe roads.

Police alleged that she spread rumours during an ongoing movement to spread anarchy and confuse people.

In a Facebook Live video, Nawshaba was seen saying that two students were killed and another student’s eyes were plucked out during the clash between students and Awami League activists in Dhaka’s Jhigatola area during the recent protests for safer roads.
