Three iconic figures of the country—legendary actor-director Syed Hasan Imam, noted thespian-director Aly Zaker and internationally-famous singer Runa Laila—have been awarded on the same stage.

The three veterans were honoured with the lifetime achievement award at the 11th edition of ‘The Daily Star-Standard Chartered Celebrating Life 2018’ at the International Convention City Bashundhara in the capital on Friday. Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor handed over the awards to them.

Syed Hasan Imam expressed his feelings thus, “I have been bestowed with all state awards given by the government.

Among the prestigious awards, only this one was left. Finally, I have received this award too. This is a fascinating and joyful matter for me. I am grateful to the organisers who have honoured me with this esteemed award.”

Aly Zaker said, “Undoubtedly, it feels wonderful. This is a prestigious award. The entire event was well-organised. I convey my thanks to the organisers.”

Runa Laila said, “I thank the organisers for honouring me through such a splendid arrangement. I am really honoured to receive the award with veterans like Syed Hasan Imam and Aly Zaker on the same stage. I feel truly amazed to face a special moment like this.”

However, the competition brought in thousands of entries in the film-making, photography and lyric writing segments, among which the best were recognised and awarded at Friday’s gala event.

Among others, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor and CEO of Standard Chartered Bank, Bangladesh Naser Ezaz Bijoy spoke at the event, while Editor and Publisher of The Daily Star Mahfuz Anam delivered the welcome speech.

National Award winning singer Mitali Mukherjee and popular band Lalon enthralled the audience with their performance at the cultural segment of the programme.
