Month-long group art exhibition begins tomorrow

Radius Centre is going to relaunch its art gallery Bay’s Galleria with a group art exhibit titled ‘WinningWithArt’ featuring young talented artists.

The inaugural ceremony of the exhibition will be held tomorrow on the gallery premises in the capital’s Gulshan area. Brazilian Ambassador in Dhaka, Joao Tabajara de Oliveira Junior will inaugurate the exhibition.

The artworks of promising and emerging artists like Farhana Yasmin, Azizee Fawmi Khan and Prosun Halder will be exhibited at the show.

In Farhana’s painting, she is concerned with the act of relationship, with the self as expressed through the process of painting and with the interrelationships of the world around us.

She is interested in change, growth, and personal perception – cycles of decay and renewal – deconstruction and reconstruction. She layers oil colours and acrylic, play with space, and contrast the solid with the ephemeral—the fixed with the fluid—to replicate the forces of nature at work. In her paintings, time is suspended, but she is just on the brink of chaos.

Azizee Fawmi Khan explores the inner expression of women around her and tries to transform their deepest feelings through bold traits. She blends elements of traditional Rickshaw Painting to this expressionist language, using motifs and forms inspired from nature. In doing so, she contrasts the beauty of typical natural elements with the resistant nature of strong women trapped into daily lives they did not choose.

Prosun Halder is currently studying MFA-2nd part at Department of Drawing and Painting under the Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka. Prosun’s works generally articulates about contemporary or universal stories of women. He is careful about image making and his paintings are highly narrative, within vibrant colorful background he illustrates different women characters, their situations and issues.

The art exhibition will remain open to all every day from 10am to 6pm until December 31.

Where: Radius Centre, 57 Gulshan Avenue, Gulshan 1

When: Inauguration: 5pm, tomorrow
