Week-long exhibition begins at Zainul Gallery

The annual art exhibition of Dhaka University’s Craft Department has begun on Thursday with a pledge to make craft a medium for intellectual exercise for social advancement. DU vice chancellor Professor Akhtaruzaman inaugurated the week-long exhibition on Thursday at Zainul Gallery as the chief guest.

Presided over by Craft Department Chairperson Md Abdul Momen, Fine Art Faculty Dean Professor Nisar Hossain and Associate Professor Mohammad Nazib were present as special guests.

A total of 115 art works of 47 students are being exhibited at the exhibition. On the first day of exhibition on Thursday, seven students were awarded for their best art works. While addressing the inaugural programme, Professor Akhtaruzzaman said, “The value of  artwork is extraordinary. Such kind of exhibition creates room for intellectual exercise. So we have to give proper honour to the artist and their works.”

Speakers at the programme said, through this exhibition the students of Fine Art will be able to present their artistic excellence and creativity necessary for flourishing modern fine arts. The exhibition will remain open to all every day from 11am to 8pm, until December 5.
