Photography exhibition ‘Boats of Bangladesh’ starts at BSA

A 16-day solo photography exhibition of MA Taher titled ‘Boats of Bangladesh’ has started at the National Art Plaza of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital.

The inaugural ceremony of the exhibition was held on Saturday evening on the gallery premises. Presided over by BSA director general Liaquat Ali Lucky, National University vice-chancellor Professor Dr Harun-ur-Rashid, Bangladesh National Museum’s trustee board chairman Hashem Khan, cultural personality Ramendu Majumdar and renowned historian Muntasir Mamun were present on the occasion.

Academy’s Fine Arts director Ashraful Alam Poplu delivered the welcome speech at the event.

Artist Hashem Khan said, “MA Taher depicts the history of boats trough his photography. During the Liberation War, boats were one of the important weapons. Freedom fighters used boats as a medium to operate their fighting. So, boats are part of our history.”

On the occasion of celebrating 47 years of Freedom Fight and historic victory, BSA, in association with its Fine Arts Department, has organised the exhibition.

Commenced on December 1, the exhibition remains open to all every day from 11 am to 8pm (Fridays: 3pm to 8pm) until December 16.
