Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar today said the government is working to raise the export earnings from ICT goods to US$ 7 billion by 2023.

“We are optimistic to achieve the target which was set for 2021 within the stipulated time. Government is working relentlessly to launch fast track service for the foreign investors to ensure quick and hassle free service for them in country’s ICT sector,” he said.

Jabbar came up with the observations while addressing a function organised for signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT) project of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) at its auditorium in capital’s ICT Tower.

BCC Executive Director Parthapratim Deb, BIDA Secretary Md Mosharraf Hossain signed the MoU for their respective organisations.

State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak, BIDA Executive Chairman Qazi M Aminul Islam, ICT Division Secretary Zuena Aziz and LICT component team leader Summy Ahmed addressed the programme, among others.

“We have to start work from right now by setting short, middle and long term goal to attract foreign investors.

We can work to resolve five obstacles in investment as part of the short term activities,” Palak said, adding, “We can organise Hackathon like earlier to get the result in this regard.”BSS.
