Announcing zero tolerance against corruption and irregularities at Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Wednesday said a new journey has to be launched to make it a corruption-free organisation.

“There should be a fresh journey to build a corruption-free BRTA,” he said while exchanging views with BRTA officials, including its depot managers, at its newly constructed Bhaban at Banani, reports UNB.

Quader, also Awami League general secretary, said the menace of brokers in and outside its offices must be stopped to make the BRTA free from corruption, warning that if any official or employee is found involved with any broker, stern action will be taken following investigations.

He also underscored the need for increasing manpower to enhance the quality of service and improve the skills of the existing workforce to turn BRTA into an effective and dynamic organisation.

Responding to a query from reporters, the minister said 63 percent work on the Padma Bridge project has already been completed. “One kilometre of the Padma Bridge is now visible following the installation of 7th span,” he said.
