Purnima involves her in KMC campaign

Known for her participation in different social awareness-raising activities alongside her acting, popular film actress Dilara Hanif Purnima has involved herself in UNICEF Bangladesh’s special awareness campaign of ‘Kangaroo Mother Care’ (KMC).

The campaign aims to raise awareness about kangaroo care or kangaroo mother care (KMC), also known as skin-to-skin care. The KMC is a way of newborn care where premature babies are kept skin-to-skin with the mother.

It also improves rates of breastfeeding and can lead to an improved stability of the heart and breathing rate of the premature baby.

Sources revealed to DhakaLive that Purnima has already completed filming of the campaign under the direction of Syed Apon Ahsan.

According to Purnima, it was the first time she has associated herself with such a pleasant campaign.

Purnima said, “Not just in our country, premature babies are born in other countries as well. The well-off who can afford it provides proper treatment to those babies.”

However, who are not that much affluent can follow the kangaroo care in the same way, she added.

“Following the proper kangaroo mother care technique, babies born prematurely can grow healthy” said the actress.

“I think the KMC technique would be very effective in the context of Bangladesh. Inspired by Syed Apon Ahsan, I have done the work as a mother to create awareness among the people. I am very pleased to be part of this project”, said the artiste.
