A five-day Iranian film show will begin tomorrow at the Poet Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum (BNM) in Shahbag of the capital.

Iran Cultural Centre, Dhaka and BNM are jointly organising the film show. The inaugural ceremony of the festival will be held at the main auditorium of BNM tomorrow (Friday) at 3:30pm.

Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud is scheduled to be present as the chief guest, while Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Bangladesh Mohammad Reza Nafar and eminent actor and film director Tauquir Ahmed will be present as special guests.

Presided over by director general of BNM Md. Reaz Ahmed, executive editor of Amadershomoy Rashidul Islam will present the keynote paper.

The inaugural ceremony will be followed by a screening of the famous Iranian film ‘M for Mother’ (Mim Mesle Madar), directed by Rasoul Mollagholipour. Starring Ali Shadman, Golshifteh Farahani and Hossein Yari, in the film, what appears to be a grand love story turns sour when parents-to-be discover that their unborn child will likely be born with serious birth defects, as a result of the mother’s exposure to chemical weapons during the Iran-Iraq war.
