Dhaka Art Week comes to an end today

A four-day art exhibition titled ‘Dhaka Art Week 2019’ (DAW’19), will come to an end today at the National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital.

Art Hawk, a venture to connect art lovers all around in an effort to create a society where all things beautiful are truly appreciated, has organised the event for the first time.

Along with the artworks of prominent artists such as Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin, M F Husain, Samarjit Roy Choudhury, Hashem Khan, SM  Sultan, Mohammad Eunus, Rokeya Sultana, Farida Zaman, Malay Bala, Dulal Chandra, Rafiqun Nabi, Monirul Islam, Kalidas Karmakar, and others, the exhibition also displays the art works of amateur and aspiring artists at DAW’19.

The exhibition showcases around 125 artworks of celebrated and promising artists of both Bangladesh and India.

The exhibition also includes installation artworks and performance artworks for the event.

Apart from the exhibition, DAW’19 also organised open mic night, a dedicated children’s corner, talks and discussions about art, and other engaging programs.

Yesterday, an Art for All, by All (Triple-A) programme took place where DAW’19 provided a space for everyone who wished to create art of any kind. These artworks were then put on display in a special section for the remainder of the exhibition.

Inaugurated on February 6 by Planning Minister M A Mannan, the exhibition remains open to all from 11am to 8pm (today).
