Woman hacked dead in city

A woman was killed and another injured in an attack by miscreants at their house in the city’s Jatrabari area on Sunday evening.

The victim was identified as Salma, 35, while the injured as Rabeya, 35. They used to live in a flat on the 3rd floor of the house at Kutubkhali.

Officer-in-charge of Jatrabari Police Station Wazed Ali said some miscreants stormed the house around 6:30pm.

The assailants attacked the two women with sharp weapons and chopped them indiscriminately, he said, adding that Salma died on the spot while Rabeya suffered injuries in the attack.

The OC said they recovered the bloodstained body and sent it to Sir Salimullah Medical College and Mitford Hospital for autopsy.

They also took the injured to hospital.

The reason behind the attack was not clear, he said, adding that they were investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, a senior police officer wishing anonymity said the victims used to live together at the flat. “We’re investigation whether any militant group is behind the attack.”UNB.
