3-day film festival begins at Public Library today

The 8th edition of ‘Dheki International Motion Picture Festival 2019’, organised by Dheki Projozona, is going to start today at Shawkat Osman Memorial Auditorium of Central Public Library in Shahbag of the capital.

With the slogan ‘Chhobi Kotha Bole’ (Film speaks), the three-day festival will begin with an inaugural ceremony followed by an award ceremony today at 3pm on the premises of the Public Library. State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali is scheduled to be present as chief guest.

Chaired by Festival Committee 2019 director Imdadul Haque Khokan, acting cultural counsellor of Iran Cultural Centre Dr Seyed Mahdi Hosseini will be present as special guest.

Bangladesh Film Directors’ Association president Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association general secretary Zayed Khan and Bangladesh Chhatra League president Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon will also be present at the inaugural and award ceremony.

This year, a number of 30 films from 12 countries will be screened at the festival; among those, one film (best) will be awarded with ‘Golden Dheki Award’.

The participating countries are Bangladesh, India, Iran, Australia, Japan, China, Russia, France, Germany, United Kingdom, United States and Canada.
