Teaser of first animated film on Bangladesh’s Liberation War released

Inspired by true events from the 1971 Liberation War of Bangladesh, ‘Surviving 71-An Untold Story of an Unknown War,’ the first ever feature animated Liberation War film of Bangladesh in 2D, has released its first official teaser recently on YouTube.

Written and directed by Canada-based Bangladeshi internationally-renowned visual effects producer and filmmaker Wahid Ibn Reza, the teaser was released from the director’s official YouTube channel WIRfilms on March 25. After the release, the astounding visuals and soundtrack immediately grabbed the audience’s attention.

In the teaser’s description, it says, “Three captured freedom fighters of the 1971 liberation war of Bangladesh, reminiscence about what brought them to the war as they prepare to face their ultimate demise, getting shot in the back and thrown out of a moving train.”

DhakaLive has news that the film will be based on real life experiences of director’s father Rezaul Karim, who is a freedom fighter and a former minister of Bangladesh.

Curtis Rioux is working as the artist and animator of the film while Daniel Elliot is behind VFX and compositing.

Stellar Boar Productions is handling the film’s animation & VFX and Nahid F Rahman is the film’s logo designer.

Rasheed Sharif Shoaib has composed the teaser’s music and Rajesh Saha was its sound designer.

The probable release date of the film ‘Surviving 71 - An Untold Story of an Unknown War’ is fixed on December 16, 2021, the Victory Day of Bangladesh, celebrating the half-century of country’s freedom.

Wahid Ibn Reza is currently working as associate production manager for the visual effects team at Hollywood’s famous animation production company Sony Pictures Imageworks. He has worked in multiple Hollywood movies, namely ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, ‘Captain America: Civil War’, ‘Doctor Strange’, ‘Furious 7’, ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’, ‘Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb’ and HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ among others. l
