National Film Award winning-director Amitabh Reza Chowdhury has stepped into the world of web series with his latest project ‘Dhaka Metro’. Produced by Half Stop Down, ‘Dhaka Metro’ will be streaming on Hoichoi, a leading Bengali on-demand video streaming platform, from April 11.

The official trailer of ‘Dhaka Metro’ was released yesterday at a press conference held at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka in the capital.

This is the first ever collaboration between Hoichoi and Amitabh Reza Chowdhury, ‘Dhaka Metro’ tells the tale of a young man who is trying to break free of his monotonous urban life and rediscover himself.

The original web series will feature nine unique episodes depicting different phases of a person’s life, namely—Relation, Alienation, Recollection, Exemption, Incarceration, Self-Regulation, Ennui, Delusion and The Last Journey.

Written by Naseef Amin, the casts of ‘Dhaka Metro’ include Neville Ferdous Hasan, Aupee Karim, Sharmin Joha Shoshi, Shariful Islam Shamim, and Mostafa Monwar, among others.

The web series was shot during the gloomy winter season last year to capture the beautiful landscape of North Bengal which sets the mood for the story.

About the web series, Amitabh Reza Chowdhury said, “The web series is a completely new horizon for our media industry, and I enjoyed working with it. I worked on this story a long time back, but it never went into production as it didn’t match with the producers’ demand. However, Hoichoi approached and gave me full independence in making the web series incorporating new elements and aspects.”

Aupee Karim said about playing the role of Joygun, “In my career of acting, I want to say that Joygun is my most favourite character till now. For the last two years, I had not worked in any significant projects. Due to this, I was scared to appear in this role. However, with the help of Amitabh Reza and others, I gradually overcame the fear. Now, it is up to the audience who would decide how is my performance in ‘Dhaka Metro’.”
