Tarique, Fakhrul among 6 BNP leaders sued

A case was filed on Sunday with a Dhaka court against six persons including BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman and its secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir over an alleged attack on Jananetri Parishad president AB Siddiqui.

The case was filed with the court of Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Abu Sufian Md Noman. The court recorded statement of the plaintiff and ordered officer in-charge of Bangshal Police Station to probe the matter and submit the report before it.

The other accused are BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed, standing committee members Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain and Goyeswar Chandra Roy.

The plaintiff also made five unnamed miscreants accused in the case.

“I was stopped by four/five youths in Tantibazar area near lower court on April 30. They started manhandling me and torn my dress. All the time they were saying that BNP senior leaders following the order of Tarique Rahman, directed them to compel me to withdraw cases I lodged against them.

They threatened me to withdraw the cases or face same fate as Nusrat,” Siddiqui told BSS.

He further said while leaving the area, the goons took his Mujib Coat and Taka 2200 from him and said they are giving him one month time to withdraw all the cases.

Advocate Rawshan Ara Shikder Daisy filed the case on behalf of the plaintiff.bss.
