There will be a breakthrough in reopening of the Malaysian job market for Bangladeshis when the joint working committee of the two countries meets in Kuala Lumpur on May 29-30, hoped State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Imran Ahmad.

The minister said this at a views-exchange meeting at a convention centre in the city.

The state minister said the Bangladesh delegation will leave here for Malaysia within a couple of days to join the working committee meeting. “We’re expecting a positive result in the meeting.

There might be headway in reopening the Malaysian labour market.”

He said they were taking steps so that a worker can go to Malaysia spending Tk 1.5 lakh as fixed by the government.

Imran also said a delegation of the Saudi government will visit Bangladesh after Eid-ul-Fitr when they try to find a way to reopen the Saudi labour market, too.

Mentioning that there is no alternative to skilled manpower, he said the government will establish a technical institute at every district to create skilled workforce.

President of Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (Baira) Benjir Ahmed, Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Secretary Rownaq Jahan and Director General of the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) Selim Reza were, among others, present.UNB.
