Humayun Ahmed ’s 7th death anniv today

Today marks the 7th death anniversary of noted playwright, writer and filmmaker Humayun Ahmed. Family of the preeminent writer and fans chalked out various programmes to mourn the day.

Himu Paribahan, a platform for Humayun fans, will go to Nuhash Palli for paying their homage at the graveyard of the writer. They will campaign for the awareness of cancer to the mass people during their journey.

Different television channels will also air various programmes highlighting the life and work of the wordsmith. Channel i will air Humayun Ahmed’s drama ‘Package Sangbad’ today at 7:50pm. Directed by Shamima Naznin, the drama casts Zahid Hasan, Shomi Kaiser, Khalid Mahmud Mithu, Ezazul Islam, Tisha and others.

NTV will host a special musical programme titled ‘Humayun Ahmeder Gaane Jugolbondi’ tonight at 11:30pm. Anchored by Farah Sharmin, Humayun Ahmed’s widow Meher Afroz Shaon and singer SI Tutul will take part in the musical show.

Humayun Ahmed was born in Netrakona’s Mohanganj to Foyzur Rahman Ahmed and Ayesha Foyez on November 13, 1948. With the publishing of his first book, ‘Nondito Noroke’ in 1972, Humayun Ahmed came into the limelight as a promising young writer. He proved his talent later on by writing more than a handful of science fictions and horrors/super natural books as well. He even created a few characters that are known to almost everybody, such as ‘Himu’ and Misir Ali.

The writer died of cancer at a hospital in New York on July 19, 2012. l
