‘Shesh Sanglap’ on Shilpakala stage today

Theatre troupe Somoy Natyadal will stage the 82nd show of its popular play ‘Shesh Sanglap’ today at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital.

From the popular play ‘The Sultan’s Dilemma’ written by Egyptian playwright Tewfiq al-Hakim, the play is directed by Aktaruzzaman. This is the 29th production of the troupe.

The play is jointly translated and adapted by Dr Sayed Jamil Ahmed and M Saiful Alam Chowdhury.

The play revolves around a Sultan, who just found that he is not the real son of the late Sultan. Turns out, the late Sultan bought him from a slave trader. The Sultan treated him as his own son and raised him as a prince. According to the law of the state, a slave can never rule over free men. As the Sultan has not been freed by his master, he is incapable to be a ruler.

The cast of the play includes Pavel Islam, Aktaruzzaman, Mahmudul Alam, Tofayel Sarkar, Maqsudul Bari Tipu, Fakhrul Islam Mithu, Anwar, Mousumi, Sani and Masum, among others.

Tickets will be available in front of the hall before the show.
