India’s World Cup-winning captain MS Dhoni is currently busy serving a two-month stint with the Territorial Army in Kashmir. The former captain – an honorary Lieutenant Colonel – is on duty with the 106 TA Batallion (Para) of the Indian Army in Kashmir.

Dhoni, who is known to have a wide fan following across the globe, has been selfless when it comes to serving his nation. With Kashmir being on the edge after the government’s decision to abrogate Article 370 – which  grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir – Dhoni witnessed a rather hostile reception during one of his visits to Baramulla.

A video has surfaced on social media in from Kashmir when Dhoni was received with ‘boom boom Afridi’ chants. Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has been known to voice out his opinion when it comes to Kashmir. Recently, after the government’s recent decision to scrap Article 370, Afridi took to twitter to claim that there was “unprovoked aggression” and “crimes” in Kashmir. He urged the UN to take action and asked Trump to mediate on the matter.

Meanwhile, Dhoni will be staying in the Valley till August 15th. His return to international cricket is still unknown. However, reports indicate that he may be recalled for the home series against South Africa in September after the conclusion of the ongoing tour of West Indies. India will play three T20Is against the Proteas before locking horns in as many numbers of Tests.

Anoter Asian Age report adds: Former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is reportedly expected to hoist the Indian Flag on the occasion of India’s 73rd Independence Day in Leh, the newly-formed union territory of Ladakh. Dhoni who has been conferred the title of lieutenant colonel in the Indian Army, is currently stationed in Khrew in Jammu Kashmir’s Pulwama district along with his other members of his Territorial Army battalion.

On July 30, MS Dhoni had joined the Territorial Army Battalion which is currently deployed in south of Kashmir. On Thursday, the Army officials have stated that MSD and his regiment will be travelling to Leh on August 10.
