Installation show marking August 21 grenade attack held

Marking the 15th anniversary of the 21 August grenade attack, an installation show titled ‘Mukti Juddher Chetona Binashi Dhonshojoggo’ held at the Nandan Mancha of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital on Wednesday.

Curated by Professor Shahjahan Ahmed Bikash, a total of 51 artists performed at the show.

Presided over by BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky, State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid attended the event as chief guest, while director of BSA’s Drama and Film Department Badrul Alam Bhuiyan delivered the welcome speech.

At the installation show, a number of 21 young artists drew a horror eye on a 70-feet black canvas and filled with red colour. The horror eye was displayed through a video projection.

Later, the horror moment of August 21 grenade attack was depicted by the artists.

BSA organised the exhibition marking the anniversary of the gruesome 21 August grenade attack on an Awami League rally.

On this day (August 21) in 2004, the grisly grenade attack was carried out on an anti-terrorism rally arranged by the then opposition party Awami League at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital.
