With the slogan ‘Let’s Cinema!’, the third edition of ‘Global Youth Film Festival Bangladesh’ is all set to begin in Mymensingh today.

Noted theatre personality Ramendu Majumdar is scheduled to inaugurate the festival at the auditorium of Mymensingh Shilpakala Academy. The event will also be attended by local and foreign filmmakers and dignitaries.

A total of 74 local and foreign films from 35 countries will be screened during the three-day festival. About 1700 films from 101 countries around the world were primarily submitted for the festival.

The three-member jury panel for the International Film category includes Bangladeshi filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, Fipresci (International Federation of Film Critics) member of 72nd annual Cannes Film Festival, Sadia Khalid and Iranian filmmaker Morteza Farshbarf.

On the other hand, the jury panel for the category of ‘Hiralal Sen Best Bangladeshi Film’ includes filmmaker Nurul Alam Atiq, director and film teacher Zahidur Rahman Anjan and eminent architect-filmmaker Enamul Karim Nirjhar. More than 100 films from the young Bangladeshi filmmakers were submitted in this category.

‘Global Youth Film Festival Bangladesh 2019’ will come to end on September 7, where the jury will announce the names of eight award-winning films in the closing ceremony.

‘Global Youth Film Festival Bangladesh’ is an annual, competitive and international event presented by Cinema Bangladesh, a film society dedicated to showing the best in culturally diverse and authentic programmes for the children and youth.
