Salman Shah’s 23rd death anniv today

Today marks the 23rd death anniversary of Salman Shah, the iconic film hero passed away on this day in 1996. Immensely popular in his time, the young actor captured the hearts of the fans as well as the viewers of all classes through his stellar performance.

Observing the occasion, Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association (BFAA) has come up with special initiative, which includes offering special prayers and reciting from the holy Quran.

The event will take place in the study room of BFAA after Asr prayer.

Besides, Team Salman Shah (Fans of actor Salman Shah) will form a human chain for demanding trial of Salman Shah’s killers in front of the National Museum in Shahbag.

In memory of Salman Shah, Channel i will host a commemorative show ‘Kotha Bartay’ through its Facebook page at 5pm today. At the programme, recorded many years back, eminent filmmaker Sohanur Rahman Sohan and Salman Shah shared their stories.  

Salman Shah (Shahriar Chowdhury Emon: 19 September, 1971 – 6 September, 1996), who had been and still is a shining star in the sky of the country’s film industry. Making his first appearance on silver screen with the debut film titled ‘Keyamat Thekey Keyamat’ directed by Sohanur Rahman Sohan, he entered into the Bangladesh film industry and changed the typical image of a Bangladeshi film hero. The legendary and popular film actor took the film industry to a new horizon where the film lovers of Bangladesh witnessed a hero with multitalented qualities to be a real hero and, especially, they got their own romantic hero, for whom they waited for a long time.

He just took the country’s filmdom by storm with his brilliant performance, won the heart of thousands and turned the moviegoers back to the cinemas. Bangladesh film industry and film lovers travelled through a new era of the film with the presence of Salman Shah, and ultimately, he became the ‘Dream Star’ and heartthrob of moviegoers of all ages within very short time.

 In his short film career, he acted in as many as 27 films. He had starred in many successful films, including ‘Keyamat Thekey Keyamat’, ‘Antorey Antorey’, ‘Bikkhov’, ‘Denmohor’, ‘Bichar Hobe’, ‘Ei ghor ei Shongshar’, ‘Jibon Shongshar’, ‘Chaowa Theke Paowa’, ‘Anondo Osru’.
Salman Shah died on September 6 in 1996. His untimely death sent shock waves across the film industry as well as his adoring fans.
