Emerging Cricket: Bangladesh post 2nd win beating India by 6 wickets

Bangladesh posted their 2nd consecutive victory in the eight-nation ACC Emerging Teams Cup’2019 upsetting India by 6 wickets in the Group B match at BKSP ground-3 in Savar on Saturday.

With the well-merited victory of the Young Tigers, the cricket-crazy Bangladesh fans got some solace for the Tigers’ embarrassing innings defeat against hosts India in the Indore Test on Saturday.  

Bangladesh made a flying start in the meet outplaying Hong Kong by 9 wickets in one of the four opening day’s matches at BKSP ground-4 in Savar on Thursday.

In the last group matches, Bangladesh will play Nepal while India will face Hong Kong, Pakistan will meet Oman and Afghanistan will lock horns with Sri Lanka, all on Monday (November 18). 

The top two teams from each group will play semifinals on November 20 and 21 respectively while the final will be held on November 23, all at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

In the day’s other match, Pakistan also brightened their chance to qualify for the   semifinals crushing holders Sri Lanka by 90 runs at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Main Stadium in Cox's Bazar.

In other matches on Saturday, Afghanistan beat Oman by 9 wickets at the Academy ground of the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium Academy in Cox's Bazar while Nepal beat Hong Kong by 40 runs at BKSP ground-4 in Savar.

Sent in to bat first, India were all out for 246 runs in stipulated 50 overs, featuring 125 runs in the 5th wicket stand by Armaan Jaffer and Vinayak Gupta.

Armaan smashed 105 runs off 98 balls hitting 8 fours and 3 sixes while Vinayak added 40 off 65 balls featuring 5 fours.

Among others, Aryan Juyal contributed 37, Sanvir Singh 26, Hrithik Shokeen 16 and captain Belur Sharath 12 runs.

Sumon Khan picked up four wickets for 64 while Tanvir Islam and Soumya Sarkar bagged two wickets each conceding 38 and 53 runs respectively.

In reply, hosts Bangladesh scored 250 for 4 in 42.1 overs, featuring 144 runs in the 2nd wicket stand by captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Soumya Sarkar.

Shanto smashed 94 runs off 88 balls hitting 14 fours and 2 sixes, Soumya scored 73 runs off 68 deliveries featuring 7 fours and 3 sixes. Shanto was the man of the match.

Among others, Afif Hossain remained not out on 34 while Yasir Ali scored 21 and Mohammad Naim 14 runs. 

Yash Rathod, Sanvir Singh, Saurabh Dubey and Siddharth Desai took one wicket each conceding 16, 42, 40 and 49 runs respectively.
