As part of two ongoing theatre festivals, one Iranian play and two local plays will be staged in the capital today.

Iranian theatre troupe Crazy Body will stage its play ‘Mysterious Gift’ in the 11-day international theatre festival titled ‘BotTala Ranga Mela 2019’ on the premises of the Liberation War Museum in the capital’s Agargaon area.

Directed by Yasser Khaseb, ‘Mysterious Gift’ is the story of birth to death of a human being. The physical theatre meets mime, puppetry and contemporary dance in this witty piece about birth, death and the relationship with the ‘other’.

Moreover, local troupe Tarua’s maiden theatrical production ‘Let Me Out’ and Nagorik Natyangan’s 20th production ‘Gahar Badshah O Banesa Poree’ will be staged today at two separate venues of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital.

The plays will be staged as part of the ongoing ‘IDLC Theatre Festival’ at BSA.

‘Let Me Out’ will be staged at 5pm at the Experimental Theatre Hall of BSA, while ‘Gahar Badshah O Banesa Poree’ will be staged at 7pm at the National Theatre Hall.

The five-day festival, organised by Industrial Development Leasing Company of Bangladesh Limited (IDLC), was inaugurated yesterday.

On the other hand, organised by BotTala--a performance space, two theatre troupes from Bangladesh, including host troupe BotTala, and eight troupes from abroad are scheduled to stage their plays every day at 7:30pm during the festival. Along with Bangladesh, the participating countries in the festival are India, Spain, Iran and Nepal.
