BCB gears up for memorable BPL opening ceremony

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is trying their best to make the opening ceremony of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) a gorgeous and most splendiferous one in its history as they are organising it after the name of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Unlike the erstwhile occasions, a big stage is being erected on the premises of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) on north side. But this time it is being built at the eastern side of the Home of Cricket.

For this, the board hired a foreign event management company, who starts working by employing 30 employees to erect the makeshift stage, wherein Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, beauty queen Katrina Kaif and company will enthrall the local spectators.

They will perform on stage with the music of the super-hit songs of the blockbuster Hindi films to ignite the night with their stage performance.

Regarding the construction of the stage on the SBNCS premises, BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury Shujan said they leave no stone unturned to make the opening ceremony of the Bangabandhu-BPL a spectacular one.

“The opening ceremony of this special BPL will be held on December 8.

We, the BCB will leave no stone unturned to make the ceremony of the Bangabandhu-BPL a successful one,” said BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury.

“Our honourable Prime Minister is expected to inaugurate the opening programme. We hope we will organise a wonderful opening ceremony with the collaboration of local and overseas artistes,” he added.

When asked about the engagement of the other artistes of the gala ceremony, the BCB CEO remained tightlipped and said, “At this moment, I can’t tell you elaborately who are coming here to mesmerize the gala programme. But our discussion with the different artistes across the world is going on.”

“It will be better if you ask the BPL Governing Council, who is looking after the entire matter from finalizing the artistes to the engagement of the event management for making the BPL opening a successful one.”

Beside Bollywood star actor and actress, the board is trying to rope in popular Indian vocalist Arijit Singh, Sonu Nigam and Kailash Kher to make the hype further of opening ceremony.

Famous Bangladesh folk singer Momtaz Begum will also mesmerize the audience with her super-hit folk songs. It is learnt that there will be a portion of band sings in the six-hour-long programme, where James along with other local and foreign singers will enchant the audience with his melodious songs.

At the last part of the programme, there will be a segment for LASER show before finishing with the ear-splitting crack of pyrotechnics.

However, another makeshift stage in front of the President Box of the SBNCS is also being erected from where Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as the chief guest is all set to inaugurate the BPL opening.
