‘Gondi’ hits cinemas today

‘Gondi’ hits cinemas today

‘Gondi’, , a romantic-comedy film starring celebrated Indian actor Sabyasachi Chakrabarty and seasoned Bangladeshi actress Suborna Mustafa in the lead roles, is set to hit cinemas today. The film will be screened at 12 cinema halls across the country.

Directed by Fakhrul Arefin Khan, the film tells the story of a 65-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman after their retirement. The film sheds light on the duo’s friendship, and how their families and the people around them react to the incident.

Meanwhile, the premiere show of ‘Gondi’ was held at Star Cineplex of the Bashundhara City Shopping Mall in the capital on Wednesday.

The cast and crew ‘Gondi’, including Sabyasachi Chakrabarty and Suborna Mustafa and director Fakhrul Arefin Khan were present at the premiere show of the film. Besides, well-known showbiz artistes, eminent dignitaries and journalists from different media outlets attended the show.

Director Fakhrul Arefin Khan said about the film, “After a long time, a film like ‘Gondi’ has been made in the country. We are so optimistic about the film as we believe the film will be accepted by the viewers of all age groups for its uniqueness. ‘Gondi’ is a family film and we are sure that the viewers will come to watch the film at the cinema halls.”    

Sabyasachi Chakrabarty said, “As an actor, I have portrayed various types of roles in my career. It is entirely up to the audience to decide whether I have done justice or not to my role in ‘Gondi’. I appreciate each and every one, who have supported us in the journey of making this film. This is a social film and I urge the audience to watch it and recommend others to watch it as well.”

The film also casts Shuvasish Bhowmick, Majnun Mizan, Aparna Ghosh, Aman Reza and Pavel Mukherjee, among others, in different roles.

However, ‘Gondi’ will be released in several cinemas in capital, such as Balaka Cinema Hall, Madhumita Cinema Hall, Shyamoli Cinema and Star Cineplex. On the other, the film will be screened outside Dhaka at Liberty Cineplex (Khulna), Silver Screen Cineplex (Chattogram), Nandita Cinema Hall (Sylhet), Star Cineplex of Cox’s Bazar and Narayanganj, Sonia Cinema Hall (Bogura) and Bonolata Cinema Hall (Faridpur).
