DSE records highest turnover in one year

Country’s premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) extended the winning streak for third consecutive session as investors approached positively, resulting turnover also hit one-year high.

The broad index, DSEX closed at 4564.61 points on Thursday with a gain of 83.78 points or 1.86 percent.

Besides, two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and Shariah index, DSES also went up by 20.56 points and 15.12 points to settle at 1536.63 points and 1045.81 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 184,279 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 299.06 million securities.

Gainers took a strong lead over losers as out of 356 issues traded, 259 securities gained price while 65 declined and 32 remained unchanged.

Market turnover, a crucial indicator, stood at Taka 7.30 billion at DSE, climbing further by 11 percent over previous day’s amount of Taka 6.57 billion.

Statistics showed it was the highest single-day transaction in one year since February 14, last year, when the turnover totaled a record Taka 9.32 billion.

The top 10 gainers were Far Chemical, ML Dying, Saiham Textile, Orion Pharma, Legacy Footwear, AFC Agro, Aftab Automobiles, RSRM Steel, Active Fine
and Midas Finance.

Khulna Power topped the turnover chart followed by LafargeHolcim Bangladesh, Indo-Bangla Pharma, Shepherd Industries, SS Steel, Orion Infusion, Dorin Power, ADN Telecom, Summit Power and Beximco Limited.

The top 10 losers were Samata Leather, Safco Spinning, BIFC, Renwwick Jajneswar, Northern Jute, IFIL Islami Mutual Fund-1, Meghna Petroleum, SEML
FBSL Growth Fund, Shepherd Industries and Standard.

On the other hand, port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed at green extending the gaining trend of previous day.

CSCX and CASPI increased by 165.13 points and 269.46 points to stand at 8432.46 points and 13903.26 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 15,581,410 shares and mutual fund of 260 companies were traded, of which 194 issues advanced while 42 declined and 24 issues remained unchanged.
