Today, as part of the ongoing theatre festival titled ‘Jatiya Natya Utsab 2020’ (National Theatre Festival 2020), Somoy Natyadal will stage the 187th show of its 26th production ‘Bhager Manush’ this evening at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in the capital.

Adapted by noted playwright Mannan Heera from the popular Urdu short story ‘Toba Tek Singh’ by Saadat Hasan Manto, the play is directed by Aly Zaker.

The Partition of India is a historical event in the map of the subcontinent. This is not merely a partition of map; rather, it has long been mingled with the luck, love, property, savings and various events of love of millions of people of the Indian subcontinent.

‘Bhager Manush’ tells the story of lives changed by the partition of India and how it has left a lasting impact on our society.

The cast of the play includes Pavel Islam, Riaz Mahmud Jewel, Aktaruzzaman, Sunita Barua, Maqsudul Bari Tipu, Mousumi, Sani and Masum, among others.

With the theme ‘Jongibaad- Obokkhoy-Durniti, Manbey Na E Sangskiti’ (This culture will not obey militancy, decadence and corruption), Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation (BGTF) has organised the 18-day ‘National Theatre Festival 2020’ which is being held in all 64 districts simultaneously.
