‘Barsaat’ actress Nimmi passes away, Bollywood pays tribute to yesteryear star

Bollywood actress Nimmi, who marked her debut in front of the camera with Raj Kapoor’s ‘Barsaat’, passed away on Wednesday. The 87-year-old actress was admitted to a Juhu hospital after she completed of breathlessness.

“She passed away this evening. She had been unwell for quite sometime. She had been in and out of hospital this year,” a source had informed PTI.


 
Rishi Kapoor remembered the veteran actress in a social media post, revealing how she had showered blessing on his film ‘Bobby’. “RIP. Thank you Nimmi aunty for all the blessings and love for Bobby on its premiere release. You were part of the RK family. Barsaat was your first film. Allha aapko Jannat naseeb kare. Ameen,” shared Rishi.

Mahesh Bhatt also remembered the yesteryear star and wrote, “You may win your hearts desire, but in the end you are cheated of it by death.” Goodbye Nimmiji.”

Born as Nawab Banoo, Raj Kapoor gave her the screen name of Nimmi. She earned praise for her performance in films like ‘Daag’, ‘Aan’ and ‘Mere Mehboob’ to name a few.
