Different time, different celebration!

Chhayanaut to welcome Nabobarsho digitally
Nazir Hossain, Dhaka
Different time, different celebration!

For the first time in the history of Bangla calendar, the country is going to witness a completely different style of welcoming the Bangla New Year, which was planned or imagined never before. Amid the worldwide coronavirus pandemic, Bangladesh is set to welcome Bangla Nabobarsho (Bangla New Year 1427) using digital means for chequered celebration.

Following the trend, Chhayanaut, one of the most influential cultural organisations in the country, is also going to welcome Bangla Nabobarsho 1427 digitally.

This time, Chhayanaut will celebrate the Pahela Baishakh through a short-length programme scheduled to be aired on Bangladesh Television (BTV) from 7am onwards. Supporting the government’s directives for avoiding social gathering to contain the transmission of coronavirus, Chhayanaut cancelled this year’s annual Pahela Baishakh celebration to welcome the Bangla New Year at Ramna Park in the capital.

A press statement issued by the Chhyanaut President Sanjida Khatun on Saturday said the entire humanity is devastated by the attack of coronavirus. Without resistance, human race never surrenders. While the fight is on, an effort of awakening and saving the endangered human race is also underway. This is inevitable to keep the morale intact during this fight for life. Hence, welcoming Bangla Naba Barsho is no more a festivity; rather, it’s now an oath to win the fight for life.

With a promise ‘Utsab Noy, Somoy Ekhon Durjog Protirodher’ (No festivity, it’s time to prevent the calamity), Chhayanaut has initiated the digital celebration in a short length. As BTV, the state-run television, agreed to the concept of welcoming the Naba Barsha in this unique style, the programme is now to be presented by ensuring proper precautions and safety measures for everyone related to the digital celebration organised by Chhayanaut.

Alongside BTV, various private TV channels will also telecast the programme from 7am onwards. Moreover, the programme can also be enjoyed on the Chhayanaut’s YouTube channel, CHHAYANAUT DIGITAL PLATFORM.
