PM asks AL followers to stay beside people

Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked the leaders and activists of Awami League and its associate bodies to stand beside people as they brace for cyclone Amphan.

Awami League central leaders from an unscheduled meeting, held at the political office of the party president in Dhanmondi, communicated with its leaders of coastal districts and gave them necessary directives in this regard.

AL presidium members Matia Chowdhury, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abdur Rahman, joint secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif and AFM Bahauddin Nasim, organising secretaries BM Mozammel Huq, SM Kamal Hossain, Advocate Afzal Hossain, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi and Deputy Office Secretary Sayem Khan were present.

According to a press release issued from the AL office, the central leaders through mobile phones asked the party leaders and activists to stay ready to face cyclone Amphan.

They also asked the AL and its associate body leaders to evacuate the people of the coastal areas to shelter centres at the quickest possible time and help the local administration to maintain social distancing.

They urged the leaders and activists to put in all-out efforts for ensuring secure shelter, food assistance and medical services at this calamitous weather.
